"Varicose veins" is explained as abnormal enlargement of the veins in the thighs and the lower legs. This occurs due to the poor blood circulation caused by either obstruction or prolonged pressure on the veins and hence, resulting in malfunctioning of the valves in the veins.

No home remedies can cure varicose veins; they can only ease down the pain of varicose veins.
- Balanced diet: Try to eat a balanced diet with a plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits. If you are non-vegetarian then add a plenty of fish to your diet. Make sure the diet should be low in carbohydrates and fats. Moreover, adding pineapple, ginger, and garlic to your diet would be beneficial too.
- Fiber rich food: Introduce high fiber into your diet to keep your bowels clean by preventing constipation.
- Add spices to food: Spices such as cayenne, ginger, and garlic break down the fibrin, a rigid lumpy matter around the varicose veins.
- Exercise: Exercising at least for 30 minutes everyday will help improve your blood circulation and help you to maintain a healthy body weight. Hence, preventing the varicose veins.
- Avoid: Varicose veins can be prevented by avoiding sugar rich foods, fried foods, junk food, alcohol, tobacco, refined foods, and peanuts as much as possible. Also, avoid sitting or standing for long hours and avoid any other position, which may exert pressure on the legs and thighs. But, if you have to stay in a particular position then make sure you switch weights by either standing on your toes or taking breaks in between. Elevate your legs above the heart level for 15-20 minutes everyday to ease the symptoms.
- Clothing: Avoid wearing tight fitted clothes from waist, groin, or legs and avoid high heels as these may obstruct in the blood circulation. Wearing compression stockings help in improvement of the blood circulation as it squeezes the legs. Hence, improving the condition of the varicose veins.
