"Health is wealth" is rightly said. If you are healthy, you can lead a happy life that you can cherish as your biggest wealth. But what if your body is deteriorating from inside and you are unaware of that? This is the most common phenomenon among all of us whereby we choose not go to the doctor for a body checkup until diagnosed with an implication. Our body is like a machine that keeps on moving or working as much as we want, but at certain point it also needs ‘overhauling’ like mechanical equipment. This ‘overhauling’ in medical terms is called ‘complete body checkup’.
Most of the times, we read that ‘tests after the age of 40’, but we should not ignore the 30th year of our life, as by this time our body has already experienced a lot mentally and physically. So there are various tests prescribed by the medical practitioners that should be conducted at the age of 30. Here is the list of some common tests:
• Cholesterol test - This test has been recommended by the American Heart Association in every 5 years for the people of 20 years and above. At the age of 20, we consider ourselves youngsters, but at 30, you should not avoid it. A ‘lipoprotein profile’ is usually tested through a blood sample that determines HDL (good), LDL (bad) and triglycerides.
• Blood sugar test – Diabetes is a normal ailment found in people of almost all ages. However, 30+ people should be extra cautious about this implication. Your blood sample may easily identify the measure of sugar in your body.
• Thyroid test – This test determines the functioning or the thyroid gland. TFT’s (Thyroid Functioning tests) are conducted to identify if the patient is suffering from underactive thyroid or overactive thyroid. Both these conditions require medical treatments.
• Kidney and liver tests – Enzyme levels are detected in the liver tests and BUN (blood urea nitrogen) is usually tested in Kidney tests. These tests detect the abnormalities in the liver and kidney.
These tests can be conducted for both male and female with either blood sample or urine sample, and in few tests, both samples are required. It is advisable by the health experts that one should not avoid these general tests, as the results of these tests may give a clear picture of one’s internal body health. Also, don't forget to schedule a check up for varicose veins too.
